IBM Has Not Been Good for IBM's Red Hat (Which Microsoft Also Attempted to Buy)
This morning we started exposing search to all and it went OK (no issues so far; knock on wood!).
The media said that "Red Hat growth slows" and IBM "leans on [...] Raleighβs Red Hat software", which enticed me to look at the history of Red Hat layoffs as we covered these (since 2006).
Red Hat layoffs have historically been rare; the company Red Hat just grew and grew; it kept hiring and became bigger almost every year. Then IBM bought Red Hat and... well, layoffs have become a "thing" since. See above what began to manifest or kept happening in 2020 onwards.
Red Hat's CEO made a foolish move; he has since then become a part-time Microsoft booster, having let IBM take over and reportedly even entertaining Microsoft as a buyer (the reports said Microsoft backed off for fear of antitrust investigations).
GAFAM or GIAFAM are not a force for good. They swallow things and destroy decent companies. β
