The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is Besieged for the Times It Does the Right Things
As that upsets rich people's interests (and they were, at times, sponsors*)
It is not unreasonable to say that each time the FSF - or specifically Richard Stallman (RMS) and by extension his movement - comes under attack it's because it "triggered" some company or person or persons. We've said this many times before.
The correlation isn't an imaginary one; it can be demonstrated.
Does this mean that FSF (or RMS) should "strive" to upset rich people or large companies (such as Google)?
There were many issues recently that the FSF ought to have commented on but instead chose to say nothing about. Some people online noticed that and said something about this.
As a rule of thumb (not just applicable to technology), if powerful interests do not want you to say something that is true and moreover go out of their way to prevent you saying this, then you need to say it even louder and more often.
This is why we like - and trust - RMS. He pushes boundaries. The world needs more people like RMS, not fewer RMS-like minds. █

* Companies like Intel and Google gave the FSF money ('slush funds' to them) because they wanted something in return, not because they agreed with the FSF or wanted the FSF to succeed, go "mainstream" etc. It's all about control (over the FSF).
