Governments That Financially Benefit (Profit) From the EPO Have a Long History of Covering Up Fraud and Corruption at the EPO
Old/Raw: The European Patent Office (EPO) is a Cash Cow of Germany
Some time tomorrow we'll carry on with the series [1, 2, 3] which isn't just a nightmare to EPO management but also to the EU because of the EUIPO, where the cocaine addicts come from.
"I wanted to provide you with feedback about "An Old Story of Fraud at the EPO in the Netherlands (and How the Dutch Government Facilitated It)"," said a reader. "When I said corruption in relation to the government," I told the reader, "I was referring to another affair, plus the UPC. In Germany, they turn a blind eye to cocaine use, as does the media (it seems)."
Now, in relation to the tax-free or duty-free cars, it was just an anecdote from decades ago. "Actually, no," the reader asserted, "the Netherlands didn't facilitate anything. There was an agreement between the EPO and the Netherlands and the conditions were very clear. First year (probationary period) one tax free car for one person. The trouble is once you provide benefits to a certain group of persons, other people not entitled to, try to get them anyway. This is the basics of fraud. The Netherlands were aware that some newcomers were cheating the customs at that time and sold illegally their "tax free right". Some of them had serious problems with the Office AND with the customs facing criminal charges and possibly dismissal. Therefore, the Netherlands actively fought this illegal behaviour."
"But, there was one noticeable exception and it was the case of the guy who had a rocket career in the EPO. In this case, the EPO protected the cheater and hindered the Dutch justice by transferring (and promoting) him to Munich to stop the investigations from the Dutch customs. A special treatment because the affair involved high ranked officials in the office. This guy now retired after 37 years of "service" and finally got the Principal Director position. The only way to get such a magnificent career is by cheating, lying, manipulating and fraud not by competence and hard work."
"I just wanted to clarify," concluded the reader.
We'll probably have plenty of time to recall the early days of EPO and Institut International des Brevets (IIB). See, Europe used to have a fine patent office or offices (Albert Einstein came from one). Now it's a circus of mischief and fraud. Many people are aware of it, even some of the biggest EPO stakeholders. █
