IBM: We Are "AI" and "Quantum" and Something...
"Join us for an AI-powered afternoon" they say...
That was a few hours ago, shortly after this puff piece had been published:
Now they say that the top skill to pursue is sucking up:
IBM seems rather hopeless a workplace. It seems to be making many things worse. KDE, for example, has just announced dropping X support. Follow the path back to Red Hat and hence to IBM. It's not about making things better; it's about taking many features away.
Red Hat's fate under IBM is troubling for many reasons. The company lacks technical excellence and it really doesn't give a damn about engineering, it's just marketing gimmicks and other malarkey.
As somebody pointed out some hours ago in IRC, even the RHEL replacement, Rocky, is pushing the "quantum" buzzword. Because why not? It already does "AI"...
So the future of "Linux" seems to be lots of buzzwords (every other blog post from Red Hat says "AI") and removal of many features lots of us still enjoy, e.g. X forwarding. █
