Article in Valnet Publishing Group Says Ubuntu Has Become a GNU/Linux Distro to Avoid
Ubuntu slid to 10th place in DistroWatch:
Valnet Publishing Group (publisher of XDA, How-To Geek, and MUO) focuses on and has habitually recommended other distros:
Yesterday in IRC someone pointed out that Ubuntu had made it into a "shitlist" - distros to be avoided. Given how Ubuntu was led by a 'former' British Army officer to break sudo and break Coreutils (replacing GNU with Microsoft GitHub) we cannot disagree.
Back in March we asked: Is Ubuntu Compromised?
Yes, it is.
"Push Away From GNU and GPL Led by Army Officers," said the rest of the headline.
Canonical in 2025 hasn't tried to improve Ubuntu. Instead it tried to make Ubuntu more dependent on a platform controlled by the NSA. The same people now try to do the same to Debian. █
