The home of vapourware

Published 12 minutes ago by some anonymous person was a comment that said "Albany site too is on chopping block."

"It will be reduced to a bare bones crew for a specific project by this time next year," it said, referring to what happened in Brazil last month ("IBM Research" closure [1, 2, 3]).

This comment seems plausible not just because of what happened in Brazil but also because of other recent comments about staff in Albany. This, for instance, was just months ago:

IBM's latest propaganda is, people who don't want systemd, Rust, Wayland etc. are basically like nazis, never mind if IBM itself was the principal enabler of Nazi Germany and profited a lot from Nazi Germany. The "Father" of IBM was a Hitler admirer, so we kindly caution IBM employees not to go in this sort of direction with their smears against "Community-Run Distros". █
