European Patent Office Issues: Points to Raise or Factoids to Share With Delegates of the EPO's Administrative Council
We're hopefully going to have a complete list of contacts out later this weekend. If you contact your national delegates, use their native language/tongue and explain issues like these:
- The EPO muzzles the media, e.g. when its chief of communication gets detained for using cocaine (apparently a widespread issue in EPO management for years already)
- The EPO lost the ability to recruit properly educated and suitably qualified patent examiners
- The EPO's own patent examiners and some of its largest patent receivers ("stakeholders") complain of significantly reduced quality of granted patents (many are, in effect, invalid or ineligible for grant)
- Management is mobbing staff and even staff representatives; it does not tolerate legitimate criticism
- The European Patent Convention is routinely being violated
That'll do for now. Don't make it too long; keep them incentivised to read it and hopefully reply (or - better yet - act upon it). █
