This would hardly be our first call for action. However, every call for action matters. We must call for action. We need more people to get involved. We rely on sources. Tell your peers. Talk to colleagues.
What we are reporting here might be exhilarating to readers, but it's not "entertainment" and it is not cheap. The activity is always personally gratifying, but it is done mostly for ungrateful (and unaware or silent/passive) people who do not realise how they stand to gain or are already benefiting from the work, which they typically risk nothing for.
We do not envision the EPO attempting SLAPP yet again as that would be in contempt of investigative journalists in the UK and in Europe (or in defence of corruption).
All we can say at this point is, the reporting will carry on for a very long time to come (we keep getting more and more information). It tends to be unrewarded-for, under-appreciated or wholly unappreciated, one might say an un-acknowledged sacrifice which the so-called 'press' runs away from.
We don't ask for much; as my wife puts it or says quite a lot, "do your share" and "do not rely on others doing all the work for you" (at their personal risk). The "Mafia" is already picking on staff representatives. Those attacks must stop there.
At the EPO, any form of selfishness or people evading responsibility for the sake of temporary comfort zones (like "security blankets") would be an obstacle or a barrier to progress.
And you know what?
A lot of progress was made this week! A lot!
