IBM Workers Still Blast IBM Management for Firing Loads of Workers While Overpaying to Buy Useless Companies
The above is a new (hours-old) example of IBM people being discarded. They're not happy about it, but NDAs compel them not to express how they really feel [1, 2]. Instead, some vent in anonymous forums online. These are some recent comments:
"I also had bully manager, glad to be gone but very bad timing to get let go in December. Almost impossible to get hired before year-end due to holidays. Thought I would be go in January that is when they normally did RA's that I had witnessed for many years. Didn't think they would do RA's this late in Q4. Probably will need to file for unemployment doubt I will have new job anytime soon."
"The reason for the late RA was by design, after the survey and as well as to minimize any traction on IBMers posting for the very little US internal positions open, since they knew at a week would be lost to the Thanksgiving holiday, so that really only left 3 weeks and given the usual slowness that all but guaranteed that only a small small 0.001% would actually be able to get an internal job transfer and escape the RA."
"I had a white racist useless piece of sh1t manager. He should have retired years ago, he has no value added, he is still there while some of the best people in the company were affected by the recent layoff."
That gives people a scent or a hint of what it's like to work there.
Another very active thread explains why IBM's latest acquisition is totally useless [1, 2], a waste of money that IBM does not even have (it'll need to borrow some more).
IBM says the new acquisition is for "AI", but actually, Kafka isn't "AI", it's not new, and it's Free software for the most part, so it's not clear what IBM really paid for here...
Some people said in recent hours:
"Apache Kafka is an open source, IBM is paying $11 Billion for the extension. It shows that IBM technical leader are stup1d, lazy, incompetent and id1ots. They are only good to makes slides and sit in meetings that amount to nothing. That is my experience with IBM Fellows, DE's, STSM's and Seniors. A bunch of good for nothing .. NO surprise,. the company is going down and the cabal at the top are stealing as much as they can, very fast."
"I saw the stats, they are not good...--29.63% Net Income Margin, only reason why allegedly worth so much is due to growth stats. Maybe they want to lose money on purpose for tax write off? They seem to want to wash hands clean of us quickly for 2025 write offs in a big hurry too. No other explanation why to dump people in middle of Q4 peak sales season...for tax write offs."
"Alvind swung and missed again. Another acquisition, another round of layoffs, another quarter of “cost synergies” masking leadership’s failures. IBM keeps paying premium prices for companies it can’t integrate, then dumps employees to paper over the mess. Nothing says “strategic vision” like gutting teams in the middle of Q4 while bragging about growth metrics built on debt and wishful thinking. This isn’t transformation — it’s corporate whiplash."
"And Krabanaugh. What an awful steward of IBMs Finances. He should not be able to run the budget of a hot dog stand."
"These id1ots have no vision. How do you expect these incompetent to integrate any company, since they have proven there uselessness and incompetency to deliver any viable product. I recently was assigned to an organization that in the last 10 years did not deliver a viable product. All were a bust."
We generally agree with them. Upon seeing the news about IBM buying Confluent we thought, "REALLY????????"
That was before we even saw the ludicrous amount of money they had negotiated and agreed to pay.
IBM's CEO is buying companies for "buying's sake" or to artificially inflate "revenue" while depleting IBM's resources/reserves.
Life support is switched off.
IBM's CEO is killing the cow. █
