This may be my last glog post of the year
This may be my last glog post of the year. I just found a tool called fimgs. I was looking at the man page of fim to see if it could play animated GIFs. No dice, outside of a bit of a cryptic -m "mode" that supposedly had a video playing option? There wasn't much there besides a very brief history of why it was disabled by default that I didn't care to read. I really wish manpages were just a bit more fleshed out. I would think that playing animated gifs or at least iterating through the frames would be a common application, but I guess not, at least not that's apparent in the documentation.
Anyway, I look online and find an online version of probably the same exact manpage. I go ahead and scroll to see if maybe I glean anything else. Then I see some related programs. fimgs caught my eye. Never heard of it. I look and while I'm initially disappointed that it's essentially a PDF viewer (not something I really needed), I quickly read that it's a framebuffer PDF viewer. That is pretty interesting. I quickly go to my PDF folder in vifm and try one...it actually shows a graphical PDF...in a terminal...that I don't have to convert to 100 images (although I think that's actually what it does: extract the images to a temporary folder and open them in a slideshow with fbi).

FreeBSD Virtuajailization
Sorry to disappointing you with such a cool title, but this is not about any fancy uncovered technique… 😓
It is just me struggling with the Unix philosophy, because philosophers takes pleasure in making easy stuff complicated. And I really love philosophy therefore I shouldn't complain, but perhaps I lack in Computer Science Philosophy skill when it is practical applied.
I am really struggling making to work jails with VNC, bhyve, and other VM in the FreeBSD way! All of this because I am, once again, in the quest of finding a decent software to replace Adobe Acrobat Pro, that can run natively, of FreeBSD and Linux, regardless being opensource or not.

Publishing Gemlogs via GPG Signed Email
Being a little bit sick of the friction involved with publishing blogs, be it the world wide web, or gemini, I decided to automate things a little bit with email.

Xobaque doesn’t know how to deal with missing pages
I run a small number of search engine instances using Xobaque. I haven't thought about what to do when sites move or disappear. Xobaque doesn't crawl the web so it doesn't know what's out there. All it knows is what the feeds bring in.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
