EPO People Power - Part XXIII - António Campinos Knows He's Extremely Vulnerable at This Time

The EPO's António Campinos only got his current position because of Benoît Battistelli. It was basically 'fixed'. Now things begin to truly unravel, jeopardising his beloved EPO 'throne'. His cabal or gang or Mafia (the EPO's insiders use all three terms, depending on who or which clique one talks to) can't protect him when they have to publicly justify cocaine use. What a catastrophe and what bad optics to the EU, where Campinos comes from.
Campinos should never have been put in charge. He hardly had any experience in patents, he just faked it. He was a puppet of special interests and he knew it. Within a couple of days of his throne-taking ritual Team UPC already trotted him out like their puppet. And that's what he still he - just an incompetent, corrupt, autocratic puppet of plutocracy.
"Campinos will never truly respond to your inquiry," a reader recently told us, "he will not even acknowledge it. He has taken measures to get out of the line of fire for the moment by taking out Berenguer temporarily but he has no real control over the situation. Internal and external pressure that needs to be build continuously can topple him. In November 2027, the EPO will celebrate its 50th anniversary which is a huge milestone internally, involving activities where preparations will start as soon as early next year. Campinos will rush to kickoff this process to take any attention away from the growing scandal and use the positive attention the jubilee will generate to campaign for his third term, and subsequently lobby for his ultimate dream job, becoming head of WIPO at Geneva."
Well, not so fast. Battistelli too wanted to become the chief at WIPO. It didn't succeed (Francis Gurry got that) and after the EPO Battistelli needed to keep a low profile if not hide to avoid being arrested like Alexandre Benalla. █
