Only Google is Still Spreading Lots of Slopfarms' Fake News and Plagiarism About Linux

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jan 07, 2026

Slopwatch is dead, we've found not a single (none!) example of LLM slop about Linux in our RSS feeds, so below we show 2 days' worth of Google News spewing crap out about "Linux". Google News is actually promoting fake sites that are 100% slop, even the images!

The most prolific was this one:

Slop or fake: NixOS: Declarative Linux Revolution with Reproducible Systems and Rollbacks

Slop or fake: Linux Kernel 7.0 Drops Outdated Mount API for Secure Modern Upgrade

Slop or fake: Gentoo Linux’s 2025 Progress: Thriving on $12K Budget and Community Drive

Slop or fake: Nvidia Expands GeForce Now to Fire TV and Linux for 4K Ray Tracing

Google News reverted back to promoting this utterly terrible slopfarm as well:

Slop or fake: Nvidia’s GeForce Now Lands On Fire TV Sticks And Linux

And this one is still syndicated:

Slop or fake: Linux Foundation Growth Statistics

Slop or fake: Linux Malware And Vulnerability Statistics

Also a pair of slopfarms:

Slop or fake: Linux Kernel Vulnerability CVE-2025-38352

Slop or fake: PoC Exploit Released for Android and Linux Kernel Vulnerability CVE-2025-38352

100% fake, all the images and text. Thanks, Google, for promoting junk. It's not only fake but also a form of FUD.

"A lot less Microsoft-oriented Linux FUD in the news lately," I told a friend. "Is that a Microsoft budget issues?"

He replied, "marketing / astroturfing budget declines until the next bailout there are still a lot of cultists about and working unpaid" (or maybe slopfarms, they're cheap to run too... as long as the LLM is available free of charge).

Anyway, the upside is, in 2 days all the slop is from the same 4 slopfarms or slop networks.
