Slopfarms in Google News (at Least Three Today) With Fake 'Articles' About "Linux"

It's only Monday (relatively slow news), but Google's "news syndicator" has managed to pick up quite a few slopfarms as news sources, starting with Linuxiac. Its latest, which is in Google News, is fake:

With a post today, Alpine Linux says the infrastructure challenges it faced a year ago are now behind it, following the successful onboarding of new sponsors and the ongoing migration of core systems to a more distributed setup.

Sapling says the same: "100% fake"

It's not that Google does not know those pages are LLM slop (it's not too hard for a company like Google to check). It's just that Google News fails to perceive LLMs as a problem. Google itself is trying to promote its own slop ("Overview") at the expense of original and credible sources. █
