Dr. Andy Farnell on Why and How European Authorities Can Adopt Free Software, Parenting in the Age of Digital Abundance

Will Europe use technology that Europe controls (not the hegemon), for a change?
Dr. Farnell has just pointed out that it is "nice to engage on different scales, to think about bigger and smaller pictures all at once. There, tactics and strategy meet, and there is much to be learned. Working on a document to support the EU Commission call for evidence AREAS69111 meant international communication back and forth to others in the Software Freedom network. Working on a "Digital Parenting Guide" has keep us grounded in the realism of local working mums and dads."
As a father himself, he made this page about digital parenting. The opening line is: "This is a short guide to "toxic tech" and what we can do about it by talking to our children."
As we showed some days ago, he had also submitted feedback on the European Commission's initiative (deadline today) and it's in this final version/page from Boudica Security:

The submission from Microsoft OSI mentioned Microsoft's GitHub (proprietary) 4 times, but it did in fact recommend OpenDocument Format (ODF). It was not authored by a Microsoft operative; Maris isn't one, he was endorsed by Simon Phipps at the time. █
