A Can of WORMS - Part III - Envying the Influence and Accomplishments of RMS, Socially Deleterious Attacks on Popular Movements
At the end of last month we introduced this new series (Part I) and 5 days ago we showed Black PR (Public Relations) campaigns that we'd already grown accustomed to (Part II). To be clear and to avoid ambiguities, Black PR has nothing to do with race, excerpt when it targets based on race. In the context of Kompromats, "dark PR" or "black PR" can be used for blackmail (e.g. "pay me money or I will darken your name!") and all sorts of extortion ("step down or else!"). But the key part is, the actions are deliberate and coordinated, not some 'organic' or grassroots behaviour.
We recently received a bundle of information related to RMS and effort to muzzle, muddy the water, and dethrone him (as if he was some royal). In my experience, having dealt directly with people who attacked him (my wife and I even sued one [1, 2]), a lot boils down to envy. Not of money (he's not rich) but his accomplishments and recognition, which jealous people who conflate money with accomplishment are eager to suppress. It bothers them that a lot of social progress can be made without a whole lot of inherited money and massive grants from oligarchs.
By the time we finish this series (probably late March or April) we hope to have convinced people that there is, indeed, an implicit "black PR" in which corporations like GAFAM are complicit. They just thinly masquerade as "activists" as their masters utilise their "useful idiots", whom they funnel money (and connections) to, just like Bruce Perens warned in Slashdot a few decades back (when he worked for HP).
A lot of what people see online, more so in Social Control Media, is paid AstroTurfing. A lot of outrage cycles are started or promoted by the masters of such networks. █
