LLM Slop Will Try to 'Rewrite' History of UNIX and GNU/Linux
Yesterday we mentioned the physical health of half a dozen people (UNIX, OSI, GNU) and the one who stood out as reasonably healthy in his mid 80s... was Ken Thompson.
For those who don't know, Ken Thompson is the co-creator of UNIX and in recent years he was moving to GNU/Linux having adopted hobbies based around music. He was only 28 years old when he created UNIX (RMS started GNU when he was about 30; RMS was only finishing high school in 1971 when UNIX got developed). He created many things until his retirement, not just UNIX (the other UNIX creator had also made C).
It is a shame that the legacy of Ken Thompson gets attacked/polluted/stained by slop. One has to be strict about relying only on authoritative source to avoid getting fooled.
We occasionally see slopfarms spreading misinformation about UNIX, GNU, and Linux. We try not to link to these. █
