5 Years Since Freenode Conflict
We left Freenode 5 years ago. We also avoided Libera.Chat and all those other so-called 'successors' or 'alternatives' because they had all the potential to become yet another ----show like Freenode (in Libera.Chat, even some of the very same people and it's not doing too well; they are also susceptible to attacks/disruptions).
In hindsight, Freenode was a disaster waiting to happen and each year it gets smaller.
From what we can gather, IRC isn't going away. There are more users in it now than there were last year (based on the tally as registered on netsplit.de):
