Former IBM Executive, Ron Hovsepian, Doomed S.u.S.E. (SUSE)
Ron Hovsepian does not use "Linux", he uses lawyers. He uses them to try to censor/silence me. Having come from IBM, he understands no other way (other than lawyering up).
Hovsepian and his 'advisor' Miguel de Icaza (Microsoft's Trojan horse) killed Novell and SUSE is barely a survivor. The OpenSUSE "community" has been reduced to almost nothing. Take a look at Planet OpenSUSE for evidence of that.
Richard Stallman is speaking in Bern right now and there's news this week about SUSE as candidate for offloading again (more in Reuters and LWN).
20 years ago (2006) Hovsepian colluded with Steve Ballmer (Microsoft) against the GPL and for software patents. Within 4 years Novell was already more or less dead, just a pile of patents. SUSE drifted away.
Being a private company (still), it's not clear if it is profitable or just a liability. Outside observers might guess the latter.
SUSE is like a child nobody wants to raise. █
