Rumours of More IBM Mass Layoffs at Beginning of April
IBM has had many layoffs this month (Confluent) and in HashiCorp last month, not counting IBM "core" layoffs, PIPs, RTOs and so on. IBM is a shrinking company with "creative" communication about layoffs and "headcount". They try to make lemons taste like strawberries.
Some hours ago someone wrote about "US Layoffs" at IBM. The comments posted there are mostly awful (we've saved them as we expect mass-deletion), but the "OP" - the original poster - said: "Coming first or second week of April. Once again, B10 will be decimated lives and families destroyed and children lose healthcare. Decisions being made above flms and slm heads. All decided by opps."
Time will tell, but it seems likely there will be many layoffs before the "results" (later in the same month).
Some hours ago someone reminded others of what the CFO had admitted already. "During the 4Q Earnings call on January 28, 2026, the company indicated there would be layoffs in 2026 at levels similar to 2025. The words they used were: “For operating pretax margin, we expect about 100 basis points of expansion with workforce rebalancing fairly consistent with the prior year.” FYI: “Workforce rebalancing charges” means restructuring costs tied to headcount actions: severance, role eliminations, org redesign etc."
IBM is not doing well. █
