Free Speech in the United Kingdom When "Chilling Effect" is Increasingly Prevalent
Free speech in my country, the United Kingdom, is under attack, sometimes by American war criminals or even by Russian war criminals. It is a growing problem that we must be able to talk about openly, like adults, and ultimately seek solutions to.
Our democracy can only be as strong as our ability to scrutinise institutions and dissent against corporate power (plutocrats).
I don't fancy bringing in politics (our community is mostly technical and isn't limited to one set of political beliefs/leanings), but at the moment politicians are targeted for their speech. This is about Zack Polanski from the Green Party (he lives near me, he is relatively young and definitely not intolerant):

These are just belittling remarks, but wait, it gets worse.

So this is already getting quite ugly. There's more here.
If politicians cannot even use a term like "parasitic behaviour", then where do we as a society end up?
It is dreadful to see what social control media brings about. █
