RMS withstood and survived "Ritual Defamation"
Before, during, or shortly after public talks (e.g. GUADEC) some people have long attempted to 'cancel' RMS (Stallman, above). It didn't start it 2019, it started in 2009 and we wrote a lot about it, as did others:
People tried to cancel him for merely using the word "virgin", which in the UK is associated with a large private company.
We'll carry on covering those sorts of topics throughout the year. We have a number of series on this particular theme. There's no urgency and no need to hurry. In a sense, letting time pass will make the theme easier to cover (reprisal prospects against our sources lessened with age). █
