Canonical is Selling You, Ubuntu is a Data-Collecting Platform
Canonical is looking for money in the wrong places.
"Slop summaries allow for better insertion of disinformation and propaganda as well as (ostensibly) plausible denial for all that. It is where the money is now." -Techrights associate
Many people came to "Linux" (e.g. "Ubuntu") to get away from Microsoft's or Microslop's slopfest. Now they come to discover that Ubuntu is the frying pan, in effect just another way to get burned or cooked by slop fanatics.
Canonical is now following the trajectory of Mozilla (claims of "kill switch"), owing to dumb decisions made by a spy from the British Army - the same man who in the name of 'security' attacked coreutils compatibility, weakened security, replaced the GPL with things that can be taken proprietary and so on and so forth.
Turning "off" the slop isn't the right approach. Rejecting Ubuntu is the way to go. Similarly, replace Firefox with something like LibreWolf. As we explained before, downloading Firefox gives Mozilla the idea that what it is doing is OK and failing to reward development teams that do The Right Thing would signal to people that users don't care enough about privacy, autonomy etc. █
