Yesterday: Apparently Last Day for Nearly 1,000 Confluent Workers IBM Laid Off Last Month

The past day (lots of Confluent workers confirm the above):

Today marks my last day at Confluent as part of the changes following the IBM acquisition- definitely one of those moments where you can’t help but pause and reflect a bit on this chapter.

Today has been very reflective for me, as it was my last day at Confluent

Six weeks ago I posted about the reduction in force at Confluent - post IBM acquisition. Today was my (and 800 others) last day — my Army GFE and CAC turned in.

After almost 8 years with IBM, it’s time for a new challenge and the beginning of a new journey

Today marks my last working day at IBM.

It’s been a couple of months since my last day at IBM, so I suppose it’s time to announce that I’ve made the move into retirement! It’s been a great 40 years in the ever-changing world of hardware and software

Lots more (that last one might even be a 'buyout'), but what interests us more is the bunch that validates our reporting regarding Confluent "last day" for 800+ people.

IBM is in a really bad state. It's a sordid mess and trying to buy companies for the pretence of strategy/vision and adding up their revenue (buying 'growth') is not a sustainable strategy as debt soars to all-time highs.

IBM will still be around in a few years, but how long in total? It's losing talent fast.

Without producing something new of real value (rather than trying to buy that) IBM will be split into more 'Kyndryls' which offload the debt. █
