IBM Allegedly Used Apptio to Target and Sack (RA) Productive or 'Expensive' Employees, Are Apptio Staff Now Subjected to Layoffs?
Some from the past day:
Earlier this year IBM's CFO mentioned Apptio and over a month ago we saw people from there leaving. "Bluewashed out of work" is we said about that in March, as it didn't seem voluntary. IBM spent about 5 billion dollars on this, as we were reminded 2 years ago. Its products were not considered good, but IBM needed to fake having some cunning strategy. It is not a new company, we mentioned it 17 years ago (the company has existed for 19 years).
Around "bluewashing time" someone from there left this review:
A year later somebody said: "Apptio is a scam product - it was installed in the IBM CIO office as a tool in 2023 to identify and lay off productive employees..."
All of the comments there were quite brutal:
After the bluewashing many from that company are officially IBM staff and IBM products. If they get laid off, we won't hear of "Apptio".
Apropos, "when i joined IBM in 2006 it was still or again, as you wish, top tech company," somebody wrote today. "Ask the management what they did since as no one really takes IBM seriously anymore. Only much better PR (lies) is why the stock is up. Without long term, rooted, mainframe business, IBM is already out of business. Even though IBM pioneered in many new technologies, the management is the one who's responsible that IBM never become the leader in the new arenas. IBM is cooked, same as their results from JK, Arvind. Empty calories as Ginny would say :), have been let go in 2024." Apptio is one of several companies that IBM buys only to sink together with the IBM boat, RMS Watson. Look what's happening to Confluent, HashiCorp, Red Hat and DataStax in 2026. The first three had mass layoffs that the media didn't cover. █
