    what's that thing called where you wake to a text message where your dad is joking about how he raised you right, then your boss goes another day without giving you any information about the raise and promotion you've been pursuing for two years, and also asks you about something that he thinks is your responsibility because he doesn't actually understand the parts of the business he supposedly supervises, then on your lunch break, you're in the garage trying to hunt down a phantom smell that you're pretty sure is a dead rat but could also be nothing because who the hell knows, your a human being not a goddamn bloodhound.

    Woah! I haven't updated this place for a looooooong while. I guess it's time to revive this and talk about what I am currently doing during my spare time.

    No, it's not the Dragonfly stuff. I have now bigger and better plans. Specifically, I am creating my own kernel! That's right!

  • Dissociated Jekyll And Hyde 📖

    You feed it some text and it returns you a mangled version that almost makes sense, but not quite. My implementation always begins at the beginning which helps for inputs that start with something recognisable. Project Gutenberg is a good place to get suitable texts. Here's what it did with "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde".

  • Reverse-engineering a Bluetooth Keyboard

    Turns out the keyboard runs on 2 processors, one at least capable of running tetris (SG8F6402, a generic USB keyboard thing) and another is CYW20730, better known as Broadcom BCM20730.

    Importantly, besides a big blob on that yellow board you can see a smaller one, that is 256Kbit eeprom that stores firmware and dynamic data. The fact that this eeprom is a separate chip makes it possible to hook up a good old FTDI and try to figure out how this thing works.

      Really loving my skiff desktop after tracking dirty rectangles made it snappier. I was not expecting such an improvement. When you live day to day making due with software that doesn't work the way you want it's a breath of fresh air to be in the driving seat even if the edges are rough.
