🔠The Monster At the End of the Essay
What was that? Up there, before you scrolled down. Did that say there's a monster at the end of this essay??? Shit no! My pockets and Pokédex are at capacity!!!
We need a hero (key of A minor), cuz heroes decapitate monsters, and a decapitated monster is, well, gross, but a lot less threatening. Unless you're spiking a Hyperborean rave with Medusa's head. That's from Pindar the poet, not Pindar the wrestler—whom, coincidentally, was ceremonially beheaded. (Sic and sick.)

Slow Cooker
The cooking may need longer as the temperatures may be lower, even when the slow cooker is set to "high" or whatever knobs they give you. Also a glass lid may not create as much internal pressure as from a heavier pot on a stove.

🧩 Jigsaw
Mandy hated New Year. It left her feeling desolate, in spite of the whisky and sleeping pills that helped her to function on less harrowing days. It was two years ago, on New Year’s Eve, since her fifteen-year-old son, Charlie, ran away. After a thorough search, full media coverage, and all the usual legal procedures, the police had made no progress and Mandy had given up hope. He’d be seventeen now—no longer a child—and if he were still alive, he’d probably have no use for her.

fingertwined
I feel the inside of your wrist with my fingertips travel down to the palm of your hand a warm nest to hide in finger after finger finding a pair finding a home parting reluctantly only when there is no choice then keep returning again and again and again

this is probably the depression talking
Maybe it's the weather. Maybe it's the fact that my titanium bones make me a human barometer who detects every change in said weather with screaming bone pain. Maybe it's the end of the school year. Maybe it's a lot of things.
But: Today, I have a hefty case of "what is the use?" when it comes to our AI future.
This crap machine has taken over EVERYTHING. I've nearly given up on the Web because there's so little that isn't offensive to look at or read. It's not only that I can't trust information; it's that it's actually painful to behold AI-generated crap.

Lindwyrm Liberty
Admittedly I've also been tinkering with other places elsewhere, but mostly it's just the universe kicking my arse. >.>
In any case, Lindwyrm Liberty is finally added to the zine page (ye gods)

I'm incredibly sick of useless protests
The state where I live would like to build a gigantic data center. It will be an ecological catastrophe, of course, but also destroy a community and hurt workers incredibly in the long run. Across the political spectrum, people are opposed, and a grassroots movement is coalescing around it.
And of course, this comes with...drum roll...a protest. Yet another protest. With all the same characters in play. DSA. PSL. "progressive" democrats. All to gather together to hear speeches from the same people who spoke at the may day protest, and the same people who spoke at the anti-ICE protest, with the same 300 attendees, etc., etc., over and over.
I know some of these people, known them for years. They're good people, and they're not at all wrong about anything that they say. But I thought that by now, after years in the struggle, good organizers would have finally figured out when a protest is useful and when it's not. These are all useless protests, and they actually do more damage than good.

Foofaraw on Gemini
For those unfamiliar, Foofaraw Press is a independent litmag and publisher/press of surreal storytelling and worldly observations.
Given the focus on independence, the indieweb, and our focus on telling great stories via text, Gemini felt like it could be a fun place to publish alongside our regular website.

Hello Gemini!
It (mostly) doesn't use any Javascript or even CSS, and the content is 95% text. So when I learned about Gemini, it felt like the site is a perfect contender for a Gemini mirror.
You'd think that a website with very rudimentary navigation and all textual content would be easy to transfer to gemtext. But I actually had to think hard and basically re-invent the structure of some pages.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
