They Don't Like the Layoffs, So They Are Rebranding Them
Bumped up by Microsoft's MSN 4 hours ago:

Yesterday we showed how Microsoft-funded and Microsoft-connected "news" sites were rebranding the mass layoffs. They played along; they helped Microsoft lie.
What lessons can one draw regarding the media?
Layoffs are layoffs. Don't try to sugarcoat them as "RAs" or anything else. Don't try to frame them as "investment in hey hi" (or some other bubble/buzzword/hype du jour).
Those who participate in this will end up void of credibility.
In the UK, they've rebranded unemployment as something like "economically inactive" and all sorts of softening euphemisms.
Well, euphemisms alone do not bring up the economy, even if they impact public sentiments.
Worse yet, the distortion of facts can misinform, mislead, and impact behaviour. For instance, some gullible fools have fallen for the lie of "hey hi" era or revolution or whatever. Then they adopt the very tools that will spell their own downfall. The real issue is fiscal (about 5 "Tech" - or "Debt" - companies taking $200+ billion in loans in a number of months just to keep payroll going). █
