Corporate Media Participates in the Lie That Mass Layoffs at GitLab and Loss of Geographic Footprint in More Than a Third of Countries is "AI" and Thus "Success Story"
What else can one say?
Lies are the new norm. Just slap the label "AI" on something and the media will salivate... the same media that bags cash for spreading fake news about "AI".
What really happened is this: "GitLab set out details on its planned restructuring. The company is cutting about 14% of workers, or 350 jobs, and will pull out of 22 countries."
That's it.
No successful company would do this.
The corporate media plays along with the "AI" storytelling (e.g. "GitLab to lay off hundreds of workers as tech cuts continue in AI era" and "GitLab to Cut 14% of Workforce as Part of AI Pivot"). The company has been laying off so many workers since its debt eclipsed a billion dollars (almost a million dollars in debt per employee!) and now it plans "to cut 350 jobs and exit 22 countries".
There's no way to spin this as positive news. The huge debt predates the LLM frenzy. We can only assume the company was struggling with basics like payroll. █
