Journalists Should be Ashamed for Parroting False Claims From IBM Management About "Quantum Computing", Say IBM Insiders Who Work on "Quantum Computing"
This was less than an hour ago (if authentic): "I work on Q at a New York site, and it is very cringeworthy to see the proud claims being made in the news. The journalists should be ashamed. This is not journalism. It feels more like propaganda. They use buzzwords and hype without checking the facts, and they should be held accountable for that. By creating unrealistic expectations and public milestone dates, they are setting us up for failure. If those targets are not met, it will be the employees doing the work who face the consequences and risk losing their jobs."
Many people who work directly on "Quantum Computing" (QC) are frank about feasibility because they generally know what they are talking about; they're not trying to "pump and dump" shares. Who will be held accountable (at IBM) for publishing fake news or paying the media to post self-discrediting lies?
Given that the predictions speak about so many years "in the future", it'll be hard to hold anyone accountable (morally, not legally). "Quantum Computing" (QC) as a concept isn't new and "Q" computers are almost as old as myself (except they're theoretical).
Remember "cloud"? Buzzword for servers? It looks like IBM "wants out" already:
