Microsoft "Xbox braces for sweeping studio closures before June 30."

One hour ago: "Going independent, if that path is even available, would still likely mean significant layoffs for all three." ("Double Fine alongside Compulsion Games (South of Midnight) and Ninja Theory (Hellblade)," as the site puts it; those are the known ones... for now)

As the hours go by and many executives go "bye" it's starting to look a lot worse for Microsoft.

First, it was said layoff notices were being sent in June (after reports said the layoffs were for July).

Then we saw Microsoft admitting commercial problems.

Then many chiefs left.

We then learned many studios were lined up for closure.

Now it says some might be "finished" in June, not July.

What comes next? Time will tell... Microsoft's control of the damage-limiting narrative has clearly slipped.

The word "bloodbath" is being brought up a lot (not by us; Microsoft insiders use that word). █
