Fake News From Rupert Murdoch's WSJ Could Not Keep IBM From Sinking

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Jun 19, 2026

"2026 Best Companies for the Future"?

Yesterday afternoon: IBM Common Stock Down to About $250, It Was at $330 Just 17 Days Ago

The stock has (since then) hit $244:

IBM Common Stock

In the media, with extensive press coverage:

IBM Stock Heads for $200 as Accenture’s Weak Revenue Forecast Renews Pressure on IT Services Stocks

IBM is in a freefall again and insiders (or former insiders) are not surprised.

"No," somebody said, "the stock lost value because of some buffoon at IBM who wanted to demonstrate his AI thought leadership by releasing a global study on June 17 that found that 91% of enterprise executives do not fully understand their own AI dependencies and feel trapped in systems they cannot easily change. It backfired. Had this article by WSJ not been published, IBM stock would have tanked even further." (Refers to a fake news puff piece about IBM)

It's amusing to see how people reacted to the puff piece, e.g.: "Pay to Play. IBM spends millions per year with vacuous AI, hybrid cloud, Quantum drivel ads in WSJ and SUPRISE! IBM gets high ranked in worthless WSJ polls. IBM PCjr and OS/2. Nuff said."

Also: "Stock dropped right after this announcement! Did it drop because of this announcement?"

And then: "Are these polls created by the same people who create internal employee surveys that are useless at best?"

Some prior comments: "They can take pride in accounting gimmicks and quantum promises to keep the mirage going."

And earlier: "Yea this readiness is just us saying yes to everything but can we actually produce? Very big difference. Is this another article we paid for?"

In another thread there is more:

Did you ever hear about Enron? Maybe you were not even born at that time. FYI, at its peak in August 2000, Enron was worth approximately $70 billion in market capitalization. During this time, the company's shares reached an all-time high of $90.75 each, and it was famously named America's "Most Innovative Company" for six consecutive years by Fortune magazine. The company's financial stature just before its collapse can be summarized by these key metrics: Market Capitalization: ~$70 billion Reported Revenues: Ranging from $100 billion to $111 billion Reported Assets: Over $60 billion (though much of this was inflated or hidden debt) These valuations ultimately proved to be fraudulent, driven by mark-to-market accounting and complex special-purpose entities designed to hide massive debt. When the fraud was uncovered, the company filed for bankruptcy in December 2001, and its shares plummeted to less than $1.

IBM is down in sympathy with Accenture. They announced a poor outlook going forward.

@OP Have you read this news yet ?

The stock is also pressured by a damaging self-inflicted data point: a global study IBM released on June 17 found that 91% of enterprise executives do not fully understand their own AI dependencies and feel trapped in systems they cannot easily change.

Makes me believe 91% of these enterprise executives are 100% full time on the payroll of IBM. Same guys who have made us watch these ground zero videos over and again to pitch AI to unsuspecting clients.

It is down more than $115 since the peak fueled by Quantum bullsh-t. Happy Birthday IBM !!!!!

IBM share price closed at $249 today, that is $200 more than its real value.

IBM share price value is less than $50 a share. That is the amount investors can expect to get after its liquidation and the sale of all it's assets.

Remember, IBM has more than$100 Billions of debt.

Creditors will get paid first.

...only one announcement by Alvind isn't going to hack it. He needs to make 3 or more announcements at the very least to "try" and get the share price back to $300.

One with his buddy Trump to let everyone know that IBM shares are the best deal in the history of mankind (and don't you forget it !), another with Dario Gil to tell us how much better we are with IBM Quantum crappola that he peddles to the White house for a billion dollars and finally one with the Orange Felon again to tell us that buying IBM shares is the best thing we can do for the universe, the planet, mankind and of course, his family.

Time for Arvind to make another meaningless Quantum announcement. Maybe move his fake timeline up by 6 months or something, he'll be retired before the day comes and nothing materialized anyway.

The trolling there had to be culled, as well as troll-feeding.
