Planning 20-Year Techrights Event
Back in the late 80s Take That was created in Manchester and it is still performing to giant audiences this month, over and over again (in several cities and countries). I wrote about it last week because they're selling out or filling up the stadium across the road 4 times in a matter of two weeks, perhaps attracting 200,000 people here alone (very high proportion of this city's population). Next year this band will turn 38. Across from the stadium 2 years ago we celebrated this site turning 18 (photo above).
We've begun planning our 20-year Techrights anniversary. Interested people can contact us in IRC.
If a (mostly) 1990s boy band can last nearly 40 years (maybe longer), why can't a Free software community? Last year the FSF turned 40 and GNU is turning 43 at the end of this summer.
Our 20th anniversary won't necessarily be in Manchester. We still have time to decide on that. █
