Not 2.5% and Not 2.5 Billion Dollars for "Hey Hi"; 2 Waves of Microsoft Layoffs Rumoured This Month, July 8th, Then July 22nd (Just Before 'Results')
Rumour, for now:

Microsoft is in trouble and Microsoft people tell us about it. They say colleagues are in a state of panic. Nobody is safe. Unit and teams get merged or culled, projects get cancelled, facilities get removed.
Microsoft staff says in the above thread: "Why is anyone using Windows nowadays? *nix as the core is stable and performant, used in practically all cloud environments Windows should’ve switched their consumer product on top of that, be more like Mac. They’ve been slowly dying, finally they’re finding out? Windows death can’t come soon enough."
Another Microsoft insider speaks of "significant cuts to Windows" and a colleague replies: "they will be targeted most heavily" (the Windows team).
Other insider: "Anyone who has worked in microsoft knows that Satya is the biggest hypocrite" (buzzwords dropper).
"Heard pretty big cut to budget but idk timeline of cuts and whether they will use pip gvsa," another Microsoft insider wrote, alluding to PIPs (silent layoffs).
"Too many redundant partners," said another 'Softer. Microsoft won't count those in the layoff figures.
People there join unions, knowing they will be terminated silently or otherwise. █
