Wikipedia
For the last few years, days like today no longer carry the same significance and weight that they used to.
Looking at Wikipedia today is pretty jarring; very America-centric. I get it, but we're also not the only country in the world. Other countries exist and their independence movements are just as important. I think I am a bit disappointed with Wikipedia lately, for what seems like capitulation.

♑︎ Consider me Ragebaited
Watched a video on youtube, just something small not too long and not too engaging because I was hoping to write. I should know by now, this is not how it works. But I'm in the middle of a chapter in a multi-chapter story and once again, I'm shying away from jumping over to handwriting. 🙄
So, I picked a video comparing Sailor Moon the 90's anime to Crystal. Now, it's been a hot minute since I've watched Crystal, once. And even more minutes since I watched the 90's anime. So, I my comparisons would go as deep as: Lots of filler episodes, does it's own thing in a few scenes vs does it's best to stick to the manga. I remember being fine with the animations of Crystal, but I had watched on my 13" laptop and seeing screenshots now IS very uncanny.

Here's a story I want to tell
I've had an idea for a story I want to tell banging around in my head for 7 or 8 years at this point. This isn't that story; it's just a description of it. The story needs an interactive medium, I first conceived of it as a video game though I suppose it could be a visual novel or a CYOA.
In it's original conception, it came out of me playing Mass Effect: Andromeda and speedrunning Risk of Rain in the same period of my life, this would've been around 2018. I didn't like the gameplay of Mass Effect, but I liked the characters. I wondered if there was a way to put the two together; to have the character-driven storytelling angle of an RPG with a more engaging gameplay loop than the boring cover-shooter of Mass Effect, something like the quick loop and iteration of a rogue-lite.
The idea I came up with was to have a rogue-lite with a companion system, where, due to the cosmic coin-clip of the universe, you end up with a different companion for each run through. Then, to have a system where you could complete the character side-quests for the characters you weren't travelling with (and technically, hadn't even met), by taking certain actions on the quests of the character you *were* travelling with, or in the main storyline.

TIL: Remove lines in Emacs with flush-lines
From the "Today I Learned" department.
When I want to quickly remove a number of lines in a file, my first reaction is to head for ed, the standard Unix text editor. This is easy, just globally select lines with a regexp, and issue the command 'd'.
