Dating Trees and Dating 'Apps'
"Smartphones Broke Dating" according to a blog post from last month and a few years ago we mentioned a good episode of the Cybershow where they discussed this matter with Dr. Kate Brown.
Just to avoid repeating what we said back then, let us focus on another facet altogether. It's not about Freedom-Respecting Software or surveillance or addiction. It's about social aspects - what came to be known as "the meat market" turned digital and once there, nestled or hosted "on the cloud" (as they say), it became ever more predatory.
My parents both turned 70 this year. They are disgusted by the whole "dating app" thing and explain how dating used to be done "in their days..."
A walk in the park, getting to know people, speaking face to face, no "profiles" or "catalogues" (like matchmaking turned into e-commerce).
People who lose their humanity and get lost in skinnerboxes will live like mice in a trap.
