IBM's Fedora Plans to Integrate Slop Into "Fedora Workstation as a Default Feature."
Fedora has become IBM staff and it is increasingly dictatorial. 4 days ago we showed that "on behalf of the Fedora Council" (which is all IBM staff) they're shutting down discussion about (against) slop.
Now we see this in Fedora Planet:
This is IBM's Aurélien Bompard and it looks like he uses slop for his blog post (he probably disclosed this before). From the outline: "Despite the resulting closure of the AI Developer Desktop proposal, artificial intelligence remains a strong technical focus across the project, with groups exploring local LLM integrations like the "Anthony" voice assistant and expanding AI/ML framework packaging."
IBM does not care whether the community wants this or not (many longtime users quit Fedora over it). IBM wants to inflate its stock based on buzzwords.
Even some IBM (Red Hat) engineers had the courage to openly rant that IBM was forcing them to use slop instead of code. Previously they were shilling Microsoft-controlled boot, probably because IBM pressured them to do so.
IBM is basically mandating that Red Hat coders do things against their will, as the management is drunk on a pyramid scheme. █
