When Schreier says something about XBox it typically turns out to be true, not necessarily because of speculative knowledge or hidden knowledge. He has sources and whistleblowers. Stuff just 'leaks' to him.
Schreier now reminds people that Microsoft hides layoffs in all sorts of ways. The "buyouts" and PIPs aside, there are also contractors. Microsoft does not count those. Working arrangements just... discontinue.
