Public Interest News Foundation Shows News Drought or News Deserts in the United Kingdom
France is experiencing a severe drought and so do its neighbours, including the UK with no end in sight for the dryness. News sites have become similarly "dry" and there is a drought of news owing to news deserts, exacerbated partly by LLM slop and partly by litigation. To put it in perspective, with the US as an example:

The Fifth Estate has collapsed as Larry Ellison with his fifth wife (about 50 years younger than him!) buys a lot of what's left of the American media to promote The Cheeto, joined by Bezos and Gates (Epsteingate).
In the UK, based on the Press Gazette, many papers shut down or lay off many reporters. Some papers are sold to foreigners (including billionaires in other countries), so they help to influence the locals at the behest of hostile interests.
This was published a month ago, asserting that "more than 4.4 million people live in ‘news deserts’ that lack dedicated local reporting":

Public Interest News Foundation shows that we should be deeply concerned not just that social control media (a weapon controlled by China and the US for the most part) "fills the gap"; it should be obvious we won't be properly informed or educated about what goes on around us. █
