Microsoft Lost 1,200 Billion Dollars in "Market Value", Take a Look at What Happened to Windows
39 minutes ago by Godwin Oluponmile:

When we use the term "Market Value" we put quotes around it (same for "valuation" or "cap" - shorthand for capitalisation). Similarly, "Market Share" is subjective as different people measure that so-called 'metric' differently. A lot of the time it's sheer propaganda or self-serving cherry-picking.
A year ago we showed that while Windows "market share" fell from 90% to 30% the alleged "value" of Microsoft as a company grew about 15-fold. Based on what????? Where did such gains come from? XBox 'success'? Slop losses? Massive debt?
Wall Street needs an epic "correction" (a euphemism they use); IBM isn't done yet and it won't be the last. As just noted in the sister site, while Windows continues to fall unstoppably GNU/Linux is surging. █
