As it turns out, Gitlab is having reliability issues (it's not self-hosted and the version one can install for oneself is limited). After paying off the giant debt and telling lies about the giant layoffs (trying to blame slop for staff cuts) Gitlab's shares are down again and have long been down:
If you want to use Git, then install it and host it, don't outsource to companies. Heck, even GitHub cannot make a buck, it's losing a ton of money and also users. █
