Happiness involves what humans have evolved to appreciate, not what humans create to sedate the mind (like skinnerboxes)
It seems like rain is on the way, at long last. We truly need it, as the nature here (flora) is yellowing, the birds seem to be exceptionally hungry (they cry and howl a lot, begging for seeds), and we can imagine insects are becoming more scarce.
Rianne published an article yesterday (similar to Andy's latest; overlapping topics) and she plans to publish another this week. Human culture seems to be heading in a bad direction. She has some stories to share.
A lot of people come to recognise that humans and nature - not digital accounts of humans and mere depictions of nature - are the sorts of things people need. Yesterday in Daily Links we added a report about how humans simply didn't evolve to deal with the signal overload of "modern" tech or gadgetry - things that involve consuming all our attention 24/7. No wonder many people out there are depressed - to the point of medicating to keep bad feelings under control or 'in moderation'.
If you want to be happy, go out. The happiness isn't "a click away" or in some 'likes' in social control media (temporary dopamine boost). Usually happiness does not cost anything, either. █
