Give Me Your "Dumbest" (Devices)

My Palm PDA (shown above) is turning 25 next year. It still works. There's another Palm PDA just like it, but that one was used heavily and is generally worn out (it's in some drawer somewhere). It has IR, Bluetooth, but no WiFi and it cannot ever connect to any cellular antenna. It the past it was used as an MP3 player (there's a standard phone connector on it, which still works). Simple(R) is better.
Today while we walked outside we saw somebody chatting on the phone while holding up the handset. No awkward "wireless" or Bluetooth piece (it makes people look as if they are talking to themselves), it just looks like an ordinary person with an ordinary mobile phone (American: "cellphone") from the 1990s.
Why can't people accept that a "modern "smart" "phone" isn't necessary to check the time (overkill) and playing social control media "on the go" is far from necessary? We did better 50 years ago. The trajectory of tech is no longer the one desired by its "consumers". █
