The Slop Bubble is Killing the Planet, Not Just the Economy
A warmer planet, also a poorer planet

The world is heating up and we have problems with rain - typically a lack of it ("Rain at Last!" I said yesterday, as we've barely had any since June).
What does this have to do with tech or "Tech" with a capital "T" (not the same thing)? Well, a few rogue companies contribute a lot to the problem. See, for example, "Data Centers Causing Huge Temperature Spikes for Miles Around Them, Study Suggests" (recently in Daily Links).
"The data centers at the heart of the AI [sic] boom," it says, "are producing so much heat that they're spiking land temperatures for miles around them by up to 16 degrees Fahrenheit, new research suggests."
It says that "[t]he effect is so pronounced that the researchers say they're creating entire heat islands." This "probably affects rain," an associate has noted.
As last noted last night in some articles, and as still mentioned in some more sites (e.g. [1, 2]), it's also crashing the economy while making everything (energy, hardware etc.) vastly more expensive. The chatbot/LLM speculation bubble not only causes a health crisis, a mental health epidemic, and climate change; it's also crashing the economy on several levels. █
