Clownflare Affirms Disturbing Trend of Web Monoculture (Which Extents to Clownflare Itself)
According to Clownflare:
The statCounter analytics say about 70% of the Web's requests come from Chrome; most of the rest come from some sibling of it (based on Chromium). Clownflare helps affirm these observation by presenting similar numbers (also similar to a few other surveys based on or derived from Web requests).
Clownflare's breakdown shows Firefox is down to about 6% on desktops/laptops or about 4% if one includes mobile devices alike.
A Web that's reducible to a set of applications based on the same codebase is not an open standard anymore, it's more like a 'spec' (speck of dust) that once upon a time had aspirations of diversity.
Clownflare itself is another layer of the same problem; a lot of the world's Web traffic gets piped through Clownflare and many people are denied access based on the "Clownflare cop", which extends to discriminatory filters and time-wasting "challenges". █
