Microsoft's "XBOX Ranks Last", IBM is Headed for Extinction
According to Milan Stanojevic (windowsreport), basically a Microsoft booster, Microsoft has serious problems in the "gaming scene" because even in its home country the Japanese companies are way ahead:
If Microsoft cannot dominate its own "home turf", what prospects are there elsewhere? This is part of a long series of problems at Microsoft.
Similarly, for IBM, AIX, Power and mainframes are in trouble. IBM is a dying company. "Let’s define national markets yet one more way," somebody wrote a few hours ago. "They are accounts that see no value in IBM solutions. Why would that be? Perhaps it’s because IBM abandoned ISV’s years ago and as such ISV’s adopted LINUX on Intel solutions. Do you see any customers beating a path toward IBM? Power solutions based on AIX or OS/400 are slightly shrinking. Remove upgrades and they are definitely shrinking. Power solutions based on linux on Power are non-existent. ISV’s never adopted them. So are customers beating a path toward IBM’s Intel solutions? Yes that’s crickets you are hearing. IBM has been, currently is, and most likely always will be a mainframe and “niche” ISV player (Oracle and SAP). Who says that? Well IBM actually says that when they state on any quarters first day, they have 80% of the revenue already baked. So where is mainframe revenue heading? You got it. Stable to slightly shrinking. Net net. White space is where careers go to die."
IBM is basically a "dead man walking". This is how people respond to an alleged survey of how to tell people they're eliminated by PIP:
Just because these companies used to be big monopolies (in a sense they still are) doesn't mean they'll last forever. They're in denial about this only to the media; deep inside they know how bad things are. █
