Social Control Media Deathwatch: After Nearly a Million Posts Sent EchoFeed Shuts Down
EchoFeed is hardly unique. 17 years ago I used ping.fm. It did something similar. The service is shutting down because "hundreds of feeds all need to be checked regularly so updates can be found quickly which adds up to hundreds of jobs a minute."

Social Control Media has long had a business model problem. So did sites like ping.fm. Just because something is feasible and doable does not mean one should do it.
One user has explained how it would impact Mastodon. He said: "My use of Mastodon over the years has been lackluster at best. On top of that, the last several cross-posted mumbles have had zero interaction. I think I’ve gotten more emails from people responding to my posts or website in general, than any comments or even ‘boosts’/‘favorites’. And honestly, I think I like it that way."
Mastodon is a non-starter. It'll die for many reasons, just like Diaspora perished.
Social Control Media was only ever useful as a weapon of propaganda and regime change orchestrated by states (like Arab Spring). Let's go back to blogs and feeds, not "algorithms" (censorship) now marketed as "hey hi" by masters like Kapo-berg and MElon. █
