Soul Mentality
Having a soul mentality is a form of denial of owns human life.
A soul is the invention of a body's value, it is an ether body. Believing and putting importance on soul, is a way of denial of body; a body that has feelings and has perceptions.
Also, fantasising a soul is the avoidance of the fact that life has a limit. And that is better to proceed giving importance to being mundanely alive, and discarding value. Be on *what* is, not be *with* is.

Art: Now in fewer colors!
I recently converted my watercolor art into 1-bit PBM bitmap images and posted them to dedicated galleries under my /art gopher menu.
This allows my art to be viewable on my new MODEL4 ePaper cyberdeck. The built-in gopher client has support for these 1-bit PBM images and can even display them inline, depending on the size and manner of presentation of the PBM within the gopher menu. The FRST client doesn't pre-fetch and render all of the images in these gallery menus, but DOES fetch and render the 'FRST' logo at the top of the frstcomputer.com menu.
Oh yeah, it required me to 'extend' the gopher spec with a 'p' menu type. Most gopher clients handle this gracefully enough. I hope it doesn't offend the gopher purists too much, but I'm satisfied. I'm content to bring chaos to gopherspace. ;)

Words to live by
“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

Independence Day
I'll be gone for a while, and now I'm also taking antidepressants.
So far it's day 3 and everything is going well.
To everyone who remembers me, please know that I haven't disappeared, I'm still alive ))

Simplifying cooling in the heatwave
During the recent European heatwaves I have been amongst the many people to have bought various evaporative coolers and fans in the absence of having air conditioning or being able to fit it retrospectively.
None of the solutions I've tried have really worked until I tried a small portable unit and remembered something from Low Tech Magazine about heating; it is easier to warm a person than a volume.

New childhood trauma unlocked!
Or, what I finally discovered about my deeply personal relationships...
I have this problem where I'm always defensive whenever I'm confronted with any kind of dialogue seen as "criticism" or a reminder of something I've said/did in the past that isn't good; there are others, but these two are usually the ones that are the most emotional and painful. The odd thing is I've wondered why it only seems to be personal relationships that are most affected. I've never experienced this issue, ever, in any professional setting.
This weekend I had a breakthrough/ephiphany, and although initially there was a bit of tension on my part, I can say that there were no lingering issues of butthurt and/or other emotions. What happened? Well, I was trimming hedges, bushes, and trees since they were massively overgrown! Put it this way, one of our bushes was so overgrown that reversing out of my driveway was getting dangerous because I couldn't see anything! So yeah, I kind of went a Edward Scissorhands on all things bushes. Anyways, some of the holly bushes in our front yard were of varying shapes and sizes. I had been asked specifically to NOT SCALP any bush/hedge, just trim the strays. Too bad for the holly bushes, as I just started trimming them into nice squares, and one of them hasn't received enough light due to coverage by other, larger plants/trees. It now looks like a platform game, because they are steps now, hahahaha!

Thoughts on music and how we ingest it
Music is important to me. It goes way beyond "I enjoy listening to music." I'll leave that introspection for another time.
Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon I was at home, still in my sleep clothes, just finished having a bite for lunch and started working on some projects at my desk and fired up my self-hosted Navidrome instance filled with well over 14,000 songs I have accumulated over the years.
95% of these were ripped from my CDs and there are even some (maybe generously 2%) that I created MP3s out of from my old cassettes. The other 3% are leftovers from the Napster/LimeWire days (if you are too young to remember those, look them up).

Restarting my gemlog [Ed: Mozz.us Gemlog updated for first time in 3+ years]
I'm going to take a shot at restarting this gemlog and posting to it more often, at least for a little while.
I've had a lot of thoughts on my mind lately related to tech, AI, culture, and other junk.
I often want to write about stuff, but I'm painfully slow at this kind of free-form writing. I end up obsessing over meaningless minutia like word choice, is my sentence structure too repetitive, am I using the right tense, is my tone coming off correctly, am I rambling, is it cringey, etc.

Other places?
I'm wondering what other corners of geminispace other users here hang out in? I've begun to find my way around geminispace.org, particularly the BBS. It feels very old school! (or deeply confusing, depending on your perspective)

Smol conversation
Could this bbs provide a sort of external comment system for posts on smol.pub?

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
