Richard Stallman Complains That Linux Gives a Bad Name to GNU and Asks for Feedback on What's Wrong with Systemd (and Wayland)
This past weekend Dr. Stallman (RMS) participated in discussions about freedom in relation to Linux (the kernel or "Open Source" - a brand that he obviously rejects) and sent at least 5 messages, maybe more to come or be shown in the archive imminently. He said (the context being distro forks in GNU-linux-libre): "It's unfair to the free software movement to associate "GNU/Linux" with bad things that some distros do. Some of us are still fighting for freedom -- please don't lump us in with them."
He then referred to the Linux Foundation mindset of promoting slop plagiarism and surveillance under the name "Linux". RMS meanwhile asks for input about systemD (Wayland mentioned too) under "is systemD an injustice?"
To quote RMS: "I have never before seen a claim that Wayland is an injustice, and I'm surprised by the idea. That doesn't mean it can't be true. I am open to being convinced if I see a valid reason."
Maybe some people want to send him a detailed, polite explanation (which is what he asks for). █
