Absurd Tomodachi Summer
I have been enjoying Tomodachi Life all summer and one thing I particularly appreciate is its total innocence. It is designed for low-stakes drama and vignettes of rather mundane life scenarios. It's all very jovial and light-hearted. Someone receives a bad gift, there's a minor argument, or a Mii experiences a strange dream.
I have been introducing darker, transgressive elements into the game that have transformed it into my own surreal theatre for the absurd.
An elderly Mii lives out his dream of being an adult baby. Another Mii has made a robot clone of his crush, only for his crush and her robotic replica to become best friends. These are the most digestible examples.

The beginning is always the worst part
Well, at least it is for me. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe it's performance anxiety coming out in a weird form or some aspect of latent perfectionism or god knows what, but any time I want to just *start* something - anything - I just have this sensation of a brick wall right up to my skull, and the only way through is to headbutt it long enough to make entry. Metaphorical, of course, but I think you get the point.
Anyway, this is the start of the gemlog and the capsule and I am headbutting the wall once again. I don't expect anything to come out of this to be honest, I mean everyone's got a gemlog here and I'm hardly unique in that aspect, but there's something about Gemini that feels more... liberating? Hard to explain, but I just like that this is a thing I can do just because I felt like it and there's no expectation that it will be "good" or "important". I feel like the modern Internet is just saturated with this ever-present demand to be meaningful, to be a provider of "content".
It's almost 3am as I write this first gemlog and I'm sitting at work waiting for the right time to actually *do* what I'm scheduled to do. Nothing worth writing about honestly, I'm covering a shift for someone. I keep smelling something metallic and I think I'm coming down with some kind of flu-like thing again.

A thing worth doing is worth doing badly
A good while ago I've read someone say that any thing that's worth doing is worth doing poorly because, above all else, you ended up doing something rather than nothing. I think that makes sense, so instead of thinking "Ah shit, I already missed my self-set schedule" I'm just gonna pretend that didn't happen this time and go on as normal.

I've been an alcoholic for over 15 years, since I was a teenager. My mind has always been my own worst enemy, and from a young age I found that booze was really the only way to shut that guy up. I won't lie, drinking that much for that long, I knew there was gonna to be some problems, but what else could I do? Problems now, or problems later...I'll take the deferred problems, please. Only, it finally caught up with me. Ever seen your skin turn yellow? That's some freaky shit. I've never been one to go to the doctor, but man, that got me to go in.
And, yup. Cirrhosis he called it. Yeah, some kind of liver failure in my future. Guess the damn thing pretty much exploded from all the abuse over the years. The doctor asked me what I was thinking, letting it get this far, because - let's face it - at this point we're into self-hated and self-abuse territory. I explained my little mental problem to him, and he's like...do something else, do anything else, just don't put your liver through this any longer. Well, thanks doc, that helps!

My cynical take on Republican anti-trans policy objectives
Conservatives and their supposed "liberal feminist" allies have long aimed their attacks at trans youth. They claim that they are merely protecting impressionable children from indoctrination and irreversible mutilation. Many, though not all, of them argue that adults are free to pursue gender change.
The thing is, it is known that those who transition in their youth are exceedingly passable. Those who did not undergo natural puberty usually turn out to be visibly indistinguishable from their cisgender peers.

Screen Piggery
I am sitting in front of a 24" 2560 x 1440 monitor. I am very annoyed that this resolution seems to bring me the minimum comfort. Anything lower and I start feeling cramped.
It also feels ridiculous that my laptop's 1920 x 1080 display is hard for me, although the small size (I think it's 14") may have more to do with that...
I tell people I am a minimalist. So why do I feel like I am unproductive without my 3440 x 1440 curved monitor? I feel like I turned into a total ahole.

Hwaldar's Space
As new entries will be added, I will organize them into categories. For now they can just pile up here freely. I also haven't fully figured out everything about Gemini space so if something looks silly, well, that's my newness showing.
