Stallman Has Explained Slop is "Marketing Hype Campaign" and Torvalds Agreed. The Difference is the Bribes.
Torvalds before the Linux Foundation took millions in de facto bribes from slop pushers:
In the interview published last night Dr. Stallman said: "The term “artificial intelligence” is the basis of a marketing hype campaign. [Compare to the words used above by Torvalds] I define “intelligence” as the ability to know or understand, at least within some domain. Such software does exist, for limited domains. However, when people talk about “using AI,” they are generally referring to large language models. Those have no intelligence. They play with arranging words into text, but they do not understand the meaning of their textual inputs, nor the meaning of their textual responses."
We've long explained and habitually showed that the media's "AI" hype is paid-for SPAM. It's also the same with institutional bribes.
Stallman and Torvalds seem to agree on slop, but Torvalds - unlike Stallman - has a boss and the boss says slop is now obligatory. Casually we find Torvalds dissenting against the flood of slop hurting development and his Linux Foundation colleague Greg similarly admits that slop causes issues.
They know they must be careful what they say and how they say it.
So be like Stallman. Don't sell out. Be honest. █
